In accordance with Borough ordinance, the 2026 kayak park lottery drawing as in years will be open to the public.
Storage Tag Pick-Up (Berth Recipients Only):
Avalon will continue to offer free registration to Avalon residential property owners for the 237 berths available spread between the two storage locations located at 57th street and 53rd streets respectively.
Avalon will conduct registrations from March 2nd through March 31st, 2026. Registrations can be completed online by visiting the kayak park page on the Avalon Borough website, avalonboro.net. Applications are also accepted in person during regular business hours, seven days a week, at Avalon Community Hall, 30th Street and the beach.
Each successful applicant will be allowed to reserve one temporary storage space at the Avalon Kayak Park for the 2026 season, which runs from May 1st through October 31st.
A public lottery drawing shall take place on Tuesday April 7th, 2026 10AM at Avalon Community Hall to designate kayaks for the season. 267 names will be drawn during the lottery, 237 will be for birth designation and 30 will be for the wait list. Those drawn for the waitlist are not guaranteed a kayak spot for the 2026 season.
Only one kayak registration will be permitted for each residential dwelling.
The Avalon Department of Recreation will contact the berth recipients and those drawn to the wait list via contact information provided by the applicant. Unsuccessful applicants who were not drawn in the lottery will not be contacted, but are encouraged to follow-up with the Recreation Department.
Individuals who are successfully selected in the lottery will be individually contacted via email with a timeline and instructions to claim their awarded kayak tag. Any property owner who fails to complete this process to claim their storage tag and place their kayak in their designated berth by June 30th will sacrifice the berth for the 2026 temporary storage season.
Registration tags are non-assignable and non-transferable.
During your registration, you will be asked if you plan on abandoning your temporary storage berth at the Avalon Kayak Park well before the season ends. If you verify a date when your berth will be abandoned, it will be made available for anyone on our waiting list or for the general public.
Other reminders:
Only kayaks can be temporarily stored in the berths at the Kayak Park. Only one kayak per berth will be permitted. Any kayaks or other vessels may not be left on the grounds of the kayak park for any reason or any amount of time. The Park is checked daily and any kayaks, sailing vessels, or other objects left on the ground will be impounded.
Any registered or unregistered kayaks, sailing vessels, paddleboards, surfboards, bicycles, canoes, or other watercraft left in the park in a berth or on the ground between November 1st and April 30th of the following year will be impounded by the Borough and held by the Borough until claimed.
